Our objectives are:

To educate the public about the breed,

Protect and advance the interest of Goldens and

To have fun and to socialize with other Golden enthusiast.

The Golden Retriever Club of Columbus Ohio, Inc. (GRCCO) was formed in order to:

1. Help raise the standard of Golden Retriever Breeding to a Professional level through Education

2. Encourage sportsmanlike competition at Dog Shows, Field Trials, Agility Competitions, and Obedience Trials

3. Conduct Sanctioned Matches and Specialty Shows under the rules of the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA).

ELIGIBILITY -

Membership in GRCCO, is open to all persons 18 years of age and older who are in good standing with the American Kennel Club.

Persons do not need to be members of the AKC or have AKC registered Golden Retrievers to become a member of GRCCO.

Membership in the Golden Retriever Club of America is strongly encouraged, but not required.

PROCEDURE -

An applicant to GRCCO must attend 3 meetings to complete the application process.

Meeting 1 - The applicant may take/download the application and fill it out at their leisure.

Meeting 2 - The applicant shall return the completed application to the membership chairperson. At that time, the membership chairperson and one GRCCO Board member will hold an informal interview with the applicant.

Meeting 3 - During the “members only” portion of the meeting, the application will be discussed and voted on by the general membership in attendance.

PARTICIPATION -

GRCCO sponsors many activities and public services in which ALL members are encouraged to participate:

* Training classes for the field;

* All Breed clinics for eye, cardiology, tattoo, microchip, Heart-worm, Von Willebrand’s disease

and thyroid;

* Breeder education and litter referrals;

* GRCA Working Certificate (WC) and Working Certificate Excellent (WCX) field tests;

* Specialty shows;

* Members-Only match;

* Agility Trials

* Therapy Dog International Testing & AKC Canine Good Citizen Test

* GRCCO newsletter;

* GRCCO library; and

* Discount on GRCCO-taught field training

ATTENDANCE -

Regular members are encouraged to attend all monthly general meetings. The trustees and officers of GRCCO shall be elected in November at the Annual Meeting. Each regular member is EXPECTED to attend and only regular members may hold an office and vote.
